Escape the prison of boxing yourself into a picture perfect pose. Learn your purpose & intention of the pose, to set yourself free!

I’m not afraid to say it out loud that I think there are some big concerns around how the yoga asanas were taught and understood historically, which has trickled its way to social media and still in classes today. The yoga poses were developed and experienced as one size fits all, according to what teachers knew at the time. Different body types weren’t acknowledged and it was made clear to try and manipulate your body into how the pose is “supposed to look” at whatever cost.

The truth is, that each body is unique down to the bone and every pose is actually not meant for every body… so instead of manipulating the body, we manipulate the pose. Instead of looking at a pose and trying to identically align into it, we deconstruct the pose, uncover what it’s guilty of, forgive the body for what the ego has told it and reconcile with what we’re really trying to achieve.

If Yoga is for every body, then these yoga asanas have some confessions to make. Together let’s acknowledge our true intentions of the practice of asana, so we can steer clear of the “prison” we thought we were in, trying to fit into these poses.
